1. Save the icon that you would like to use by right clicking on the icon (for Windows users) and selecting "Save Picture As..". You can change the filename, or keep with the original name. Just remember where you save the icon and the name that you saved it under. IMPORTANT: For moving icons, please make sure that the file extension .gif stays the same, since any other picture extension will not allow it to move. Also, if "Save Picture As.." is not allowing you to save as a .gif, try "Save Target As...", that may work.
2. Open up your AOL messenger program. Click "My AIM", and proceed down to highlight "Edit Options". This will open up another choice of selections. Go to "Edit Preferences" and this will open a display box with many different options in forms of tabs. One of these options is a tab called "Buddy Icon", click on that tab. There will be a box on your left hand side that has a list of your buddies. At the top of this list it will say *My Buddy Icon*. Make sure that is highlighted and it will show the current icon that you have on display. In order to change your icon to the new one, you need to click the "Browse PC" button. That will open the files in your computer. Locate the icon that you want and click on it. (Remember the file name and where you saved it is the key! :) lol) The icon should display, if not you need to locate it again. Once that is complete, you are good to go. Click OK, and your new icon should show up to your buddies. GOOD Luck!!!
